Nathan Wong elected president of Pacific Lipid Association

Nathan D. Wong, PhD, FACC, FAHA, FNLA, professor of Medicine and Epidemiology and director of the UCI Heart Disease Prevention Program at the School of Medicine, was elected to serve as president of the Pacific Lipid Association (PLA) during the National Lipid Association (NLA) Annual Scientific Sessions held in Las Vegas earlier this year.
As a regional chapter of the NLA, the PLA is a medical education society for healthcare professionals who work in the area of lipid management and preventive cardiology. Dr. Wong holds MPH and PhD degrees in epidemiology from Yale University. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association, National Lipid Association, and American Society for Preventive Cardiology. He is also a past president (2010-2012) and current board member of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology and past chair of the American Heart Association Prevention Science Subcommittee. Dr. Wong has primary research interests in subclinical atherosclerosis, lipid and diabetes management, and cardiovascular disease prevention and has authored over 300 papers and co-edited six textbooks, including the Braunwald Companion on Preventive Cardiology and the ASPC Manual on Preventive Cardiology.
