Important Correction: Policy Location on Depopulation Letter

Dear Agents,

On December 1, we sent a notice by mail to policyholders about offers in the 2017-2018 Assumption Reinsurance Depopulation Program, a state-authorized program to encourage private market insurers to write windstorm coverage along the Texas coast. Due to a technical error, the policyholder’s location information was wrong on the notice, and their location address was listed on another policyholder’s notice. The offer letter your policyholders received was otherwise correct.

We have received calls from policyholders concerned about this incorrect data and wanted to make sure you were prepared to answer their questions.

  • First, we are sending a corrected notice tomorrow 12/6 with an alert to let policyholders know their information was incorrectly shared. Click here to review the message policyholders will receive.
  • Please assure policyholders that their financial information is safe. The information shared does not include information such as social security numbers or bank account numbers.
  • If the policyholder already submitted the form required to stay with TWIA that shows the wrong property location, they will need to sign and submit the corrected form. There is no other action they need to take at this time.
  • Please also know we have taken steps to ensure this error will not happen in the future, and we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

For help, please call us at 1-800-208-5948. For additional information, you can access all communications from the 2017-2018 program on our website

Thank you,

Texas Windstorm Insurance Association
