Agents,

We encourage you to share this information with your clients!

June 1 marked the start of the 2017 hurricane season, and from our CAT Plan to funding, TWIA is prepared on all fronts.

CAT Plan and Claims Handling - The TWIA Catastrophe (CAT) Incident Response Plan is at the core of our multi-faceted storm preparedness program. Updated and tested annually, the plan describes the activities we will conduct in preparation for, and in response to, a catastrophic incident.

TWIA is also prepared for hurricane season because of our new, efficient claims administration system, Claims Center. The system, which has already received policyholder praise,  allows policyholders and agents alike to report and manage claims online and includes the ability to review and submit documents, message a claims team member, and review claims status details.

Funded to Cover a 125-year Storm Season - Being prepared also means being sufficiently funded. For the 2017 hurricane season, TWIA has secured $4.9 billion in total funding which is enough to cover a 125-year storm season, or more than 99 percent of all possible storm seasons.

More information about our funding is available in this press release and TWIA’s 2017 Annual Report.

TWIA Hurricane Preparedness Tips - In addition to ensuring that TWIA is ready for a hurricane event, we want coastal communities and policyholders to be prepared too. We offer a variety of sources for hurricane preparedness information.

  • Social Media – TWIA will be posting hurricane preparedness tips all month long on our Twitter, #TWIAtips, and Facebook pages.
  •  TWIA Storm Center – This site explores what policyholders need to prepare, maintain, and recover in the event of a hurricane. It also includes a live satellite feed from the National Hurricane Center and interactive hurricane education tools for kids.
  • Hurricane Preparedness Press Release and Blog – This news release and blog provides preparedness tips for policyholders.

As we venture into this year’s hurricane season, TWIA wants to remain a valuable resource to you and policyholders, so if you have any questions please contact our Agent Services team at agentservices@twia.org or 1-800-788-8247.
