Medical Students write book: Diary of a Med Student
Daniel Azzam and Ajay Sharma, medical students at UCI's School of Medicine and co-authors of the new book, "Diary of a Med Student."

Two UCI medical students recently wrote a book: Diary of a Med Student, selling over 1,000 copies in the first month and hitting #1 in the New Release category on Amazon.

The book was created for med students, doctors, pre-med students, and their loved ones to look backward, forward, and laterally on the wonderful world of medical school.

Daniel Azzam completed his undergraduate studies in neuroscience, spanish language, and biomedical research at UCLA. Currently, he is finishing the final stages of his MD and MBA degrees at UCI before pursuing his dreams of becoming an eye surgeon. Ajay Sharma is a senior medical and business student at UCI, and has plans to be a dermatologist focusing on the treatment of skin cancer ,and a leader in healthcare.

They wanted to provide a platform, in the form of a book, for medical students from all over the country to express their emotions. From the struggles medical students have gone through, from losing a first patient to COVID-19 to feeling like they don’t belong in school, the stories in the book are presented in a raw and honest manner. They received more than 200 submissions from over 50 medical schools, truly representing the voices from students across the world.

100% of all proceeds will be donated to the Diary of a Med Student (DOAMS) Scholarship Fund for current and incoming medical students.
