Florence Market Walk

In this two-and-a-half hour, Florence guided tour of one of the city's most characteristic food markets, either San Lorenzo or Sant'Ambrogio, we will guide you through its dizzying array of fresh produce, meats, cheeses (most notably the Tuscan pecorinos), fish and baked goods. The multitude of selection and only the highest of quality has made the market one of the most popular spots for Florentines on the look out for those perfect ingredients that have made their ribollitapappa al Pomodoro and Panzanella famous the world over.

  • Dive into one of Florence's most characteristic food markets, the Lorenzo or Sant'Ambrogio
  • Thematic, in-depth experience led by a gastronomic expert
  • Sample an array of local foods made from the finest ingredients

Tuscan Delicacies

Our gastronomic expert, well versed in the history and traditions of Tuscan cuisine, will spend extra attention on the specialties and peculiarities (wild boar prosciutto or tripe sandwiches, anyone?) of the area. The importance of food and its daily procurement within the historical and social context of Florentine life will be explored. Since the area is also home to a number of renowned restaurants, we will take the time to discuss the changing face of Florentine dining. The visit will include plenty of time for tastings at various stands throughout the market complex and the chance to chat and interact with the local shopkeepers.

Take Home a Slice of Florence

This walk is also a great opportunity to stock up on any Florentine ingredients you might like to bring home with you, in order to recreate some of the wonderful meals you will undoubtedly experience during your Florentine sojourn.
