Venetian Delicacies

The nearby town of Padua, a quick 30-minute train ride from Venice, is home to a rich culinary tradition, and some of the best open-air food markets in Italy. In this visit to Padua's fruit and vegetable market in Piazza Delle Erbe, our Veneto gastronomic docent will guide you through the maze of fresh food stands to fill you in on seasonal produce, local traditions and specialties, and the importance of quality fresh ingredients in Italian cuisine.

You will also peruse the specialty wine, cheese and meat shops located under the Palazzo Della Ragione, or sotto salone. Delight your senses with aged Parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto, fresh olives and much more. The visit will include plenty of time for tasting and recommendations for an outstanding lunch. It's also a great opportunity to stock up on any regional ingredients you might like to bring home with you.
