Distinguishing early breast lesions that will progress to invasive disease from those that will remain indolent is a major clinical challenge, and it creates uncertainty in diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Navin will present research using single-cell genomic approaches to define how early breast cancer evolves and progresses, and to address when a lesion should be considered a cancer. A leader in single-cell genomics, Dr. Navin’s research on tumor evolution and heterogeneity advances understanding of how cancers develop, invade, metastasize, and resist treatment.
