Dear colleagues,
Monday, Sept. 21, will mark the start of the 2026-27 annual flu vaccination campaign. UCI Health will offer free standard shots and high-dose flu shots to co-workers who qualify through the end of the flu season.
Our goal this year is to ensure that over 90% of our co-workers are vaccinated against the flu by Dec. 4, 2026. As healthcare workers, it’s important to rely on credible, evidence-based information when deciding whether to get the flu shot.
The flu shot is the most effective way to protect yourself, our patients, your family members and the community, especially those who are the most vulnerable.
2026-27 vaccination program key points:
- Campaign launch: Sept. 21, 2026
- Campaign end: Dec. 4, 2026
- Where to get the flu vaccine:
- UCI Health Occupational Health or Employee Health
- Your primary care provider or a commercial pharmacy (report vaccination to Occupational Health/Employee Health)
Co-workers interested in receiving the recently approved mRNA flu shot should ask their primary care provider or find a pharmacy offering that version.
Flu campaign resources
Additional information about our 2026-27 vaccination campaign will be posted to the Occupational Health SharePoint site as it becomes available, including policy guidelines, a schedule of locations where you can receive your free flu vaccine, how to get your badge tag and how to upload proof of vaccination from an outside source.
Similar to last year, UCI Health will not offer the COVID-19 vaccine. Co-workers interested in receiving the current COVID-19 vaccine should ask their primary care provider or find a pharmacy that offers it. The COVID-19 vaccine is not required for co-workers to meet policy requirements.
We appreciate your efforts and thank you for your support in keeping yourself, our patients and your colleagues healthy.
Sincerely,
