Lani Park, PhD
Co-Lead of Population Sciences in the Pacific Program
University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center |
Lung cancer risk varies significantly across populations, yet the mechanisms behind these differences
remain incompletely understood. Dr. Park will present a multidisciplinary research approach that deepens our
understanding of the biological, environmental, and social factors shaping differential disease risk — and the
implications for future research directions across disciplines.
A cancer epidemiologist with 15 years of experience, Dr. Park’s research spans nicotine and tobacco metabolism,
DNA methylation, and structural racism to examine racial and ethnic disparities in lung cancer risk.
