| Due to shifts in the federal agency funding landscape, do not sign any certifications or acknowledgments, complete any surveys, or respond regarding grant compliance, change in abstract or scope of work, or project activities. Instead, forward such communications to Jeff Warner, Senior Director, Sponsored Projects Administration. Authorized Organizational Representatives (AORs) in the Office of Research will handle these matters. If you have trouble getting in touch with your Sponsored Programs offices/Contracts and Grants office, contact Nancy Lewis, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration. Learn more about the impact of federal executive orders and directives on federal grants and contracts.
For other questions or concerns, contact Paul Lekutai, Director, Federal and Non-Federal Sponsored Projects, or Jeff Warner.

Student Research Internship Program (SRIP) |
| With the upcoming summer term, we wanted to alert you to some changes to the Student Research Internship Program (SRIP). This program expansion presents an exciting opportunity for students to gain valuable research experience under the guidance of faculty members in the School of Medicine. The main changes include removing the need for vaccination forms, depending on whether the setting is a basic lab vs. a clinic, and the criteria for eligibility now include UCI undergrads for summer term ONLY. Learn more about the Student Research Internship Program, including the updated changes and forms.

| Dorota Skowronska-Krawczyk, PhD (Physiology & Biophysics), received a research grant from BrightFocus Foundation’s National Glaucoma Research program titled, “The cumulative role of repeated IOP elevations in epigenetic reprogramming and aging.” Aging, a process where damage accumulates in our cells over time, makes tissues more sensitive to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). However, it is unknown how cells become more vulnerable as they age. This project’s experiments will explore how retinas respond to IOP-related stress and the mechanisms behind this vulnerability, aiming to find new ways to protect retinal neurons from glaucomatous changes.
