Day 1: Turin Arrival
Arrive Turin airport, private transfer and check in at Castello di Sinio, in the heart of Barolo wine country. Dinner will be in a selected local restaurant. Day 1: Truffle Hunting After breakfast, meet with the guide and departure for a great simulated Truffle Hunting Excursion in the woods, with a folkloristic “Trifulao” Truffle hunter and his trained dog (sporty clothes and an extra pair of shoes recommended). This is the most exciting of experiences for truffle enthusiasts. A hunter accompanied by his dog will lead the group into the woods to seek out the precious underground tuber, guided only by the dog’s sense of smell and the intuition resulting from years of experience. A meeting with an expert, who will provide all the information essential to understanding how, where and why truffles grow, will precede the hunt. Lunch in a local agriturismo, sample menu with Truffle tasting. Afternoon at leisure and in the evening enjoy dinner in a selected local restaurant. Day 3: Barolo - Wine tasting After breakfast, meet with the guide and departure for Barolo, the town from which the “King of Wines and Wine of Kings” gets its name. Visit to the unconventional WiMu, the Wine Museum set in the Marchesi Falletti Castle. Stroll in the town to reach a well-known wine cellar producing Barolo wine for the guided tour with tasting light lunch based on typical local products paired with the house wines. In the afternoon, visit to the Grinzane Cavour Castle, UNESCO World Heritage Site which stands in one of the most spectacular settings in Langhe region. The imposing building houses the “Cavour” Regional Enoteca and the Museum of Langhe hills. Dinner will be in a selected local restaurant. Day 4: Barbaresco – Wine and Cheese tasting After breakfast, meet with the guide and transfer to Alta Langa Region, where the landscape becomes wilder and the vineyards leave the place to woods, fields and hazelnut groves. Visit to a small traditional cheese producer: pasture, sheepfold, milking room, cheese making process, ageing. Enjoy a tasting lunch with the cheese maker with quality typical local products inside a picturesque ‘Ciabot’ (wooden hut) and/or intimate cozy kitchen. In the afternoon, the tour goes on towards Barbaresco wine area, for the visit to a small wine cellar. Short transfer to Neive and possibility to have a stroll in the village, known to be one of the nicest in Italy. Short transfer to visit a local factory producing truffle specialties and tasting. Dinner will be in a selected local restaurant. Day 5: Alba - International White Truffle Fair After breakfast, meet with the guide in Alba, the so-called “Capital” of Langhe hills, for a guided visit to the historical centre. Free stroll among medieval towers, liberty palaces, elegant boutiques and historical cafés. The city hosts the International Alba White Truffle Fair and offers the possibility to visit the Truffle Market, where the Truffle Hunters sell their precious underground mushrooms certified by a quality commission. Lunch and afternoon free to enjoy the events, some shopping and a typical Italian aperitivo sitting in one of the many cafes. Dinner will be in a selected local restaurant. Day 6: Turin Departure Private transfer to Turin Airport for your flight back to the US or to your next destination.
