To All Researchers: Learn More About Export Controls - Compliance is Required |
As part of a leading research institution, UC Irvine researchers create and have access to sensitive technologies controlled by U.S. export laws for national security, economic and foreign policy reasons. To fulfill our commitment to regulatory compliance as a premier research university, UC Irvine has an export control program designed to support and facilitate our faculty’s scholarly and creative activities while promoting compliance with U.S. export controls.
Export Controls are federal laws that regulate the shipment or transfer of controlled items, software, technology, or services outside the United States. These laws also restrict the release of certain information to foreign nationals in the U.S., otherwise known as a “deemed export.” To ensure compliance with export controls, it is critically important for university personnel to identify when their activities may trigger export controls.
The UC Irvine Office of Research maintains a comprehensive webpage that details all aspects of the crucial export controls policy including training.
Wondering if you are compliant? Email Export Control for general inquiries or contact Export Control Officer Brian McCurdy or Research Engagement & Compliance Officer Joanna Arias. |

Expiration of Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Non-Emergency Standards |
Effective Feb. 3, in response to the expiration of the Cal/OSHA non-emergency COVID-19 prevention regulations, UCI Health will no longer require co-workers who test positive for COVID-19 to report their results to Occupational Health. Additionally, contact tracing for routine COVID-19 cases, notification of close contacts, and exposure location reporting are also discontinued.
Co-workers who experience symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive should follow the UCI Health Working Well Guidelines.
Please note: These updated state requirements do not change the UCI Health mandatory vaccination program participation policy. Co-workers who are not up-to-date with vaccinations for influenza and COVID-19 are still required to wear masks while on UCI Health premises.
