The UCI School of Medicine Dean’s Office is requesting internal applicants for the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) and Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) programs offered through Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Penn., for women leaders in academic medicine or healthcare for the 2025–26 cycle.
The Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program is a faculty development program for women leaders in academic medicine. ELAM offers an intensive one-year program of leadership training with extensive coaching, networking and mentoring opportunities aimed at expanding the national pool of qualified women candidates for leadership in academic medicine, dentistry and public health. If selected, recipients will participate in a one-year curriculum focused on strategic finance, organizational dynamics and personal leadership effectiveness.
Eligibility:
- Hold the rank of associate professor for at least two years.
- Have had administrative experience in personnel and budget matters.
- Express a clear desire for attaining a leadership position.
- Embrace strategic risk-taking in their career path.
- Realistically assess their leadership opportunities, both internal and external.
- Possess growth opportunities, either formal or informal, within their institution.
The Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) program is a faculty development program for women leaders to develop tools and skills that will enable them to bring their full potential to healthcare organizations. The ELH program is a year-long, part-time fellowship.
Eligibility:
- Seven years out of training with an MD or MD-equivalent degree.
- Have program-level leadership.
- Institutional-level responsibilities (operational or strategic management).
- Aspirations to executive-level health system roles (executive leadership, chief medical officer, chief quality officer).

If you are interested in being considered for either of these programs, please provide the following materials:
- One-page letter describing the motivation to apply for ELAM or ELH, current responsibilities, past leadership experiences and 5-year career goals.
- CV or NIH Biosketch.
Applicants will be reviewed, and if selected, tuition will be supported by the School of Medicine for those selected.
