2024 UC Irvine Neurodegeneration Community Workshop Registration
With support from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, we are pleased to announce that the UC Irvine Neurodegeneration Community Workshop will be back in 2024!  Thank you to everyone who helped make our inaugural, virtual workshop in 2022 a success. We have listened to your feedback and we are excited to host an even better event in 2024.

We are hosting a hybrid 2-day event (Friday and Saturday) aimed at facilitating an exchange of knowledge and experiences between patients, clinicians and researchers within the Southern California neurodegeneration community. The event is free, open to the public, and will include lectures and panel discussions led by patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers. Topics will range from scientific advances in therapy development to 'quality of life' discussions to an open dialog following a screening of Pickle Man.

As an additional component following this main event, we will hold three optional bimonthly workshops dedicated to science communication between April and August 2024 that will be specialized for certain groups within our community (patients, researchers, clinicians/medical students).

Highlighted speakers: Adys Mendizabal, MD, MS from UCLA, Tim Shay, PhD from Caltech and Gene Yeo, PhD from UCSD

Location: Hybrid, In-person at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences & Engineering, 100 Academy Wy, Irvine, CA 92617
When: Friday, March 22nd (9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. PST) - Saturday, March 23rd (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PST), 2024

Lightning Talks: There is a separate, optional section for graduate or postdoctoral researchers or medical students interested in giving one of our scheduled in-person lightning talks. We are especially looking for speakers who use 'gene therapy' and 'omics' methods in their work and are interested in communicating to a general audience. Deadline for submissions extended to Friday, March 8th 2024.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact Mara Burns (msburns@uci.edu) or Dr. Eric Arnold (farnold@hs.uci.edu).
