UCI HoLEP Masterclass: Laser Enucleation of the Prostate
There is a perception that HoLEP is a challenging and tough procedure to learn. Surgeons might be concerned about harming the patient during the first steps. A significant study comparing the patient outcomes for surgeons with and without mentorship adopting this procedure found that surgeons with mentorship in their initial learning curve had lower operative times, more prostate tissue removed, less bleeding, and most importantly, lower incidence of treatment-related adverse events. Therefore, this masterclass offers similar mentorship through a realistic full procedure simulation with an expert proctor for surgeons adopting this procedure.
