Our people share their vaccine stories
Katelyn Grimsbo, Group Director of Strategy, Greater Colorado and Kansas, was able to hold her wedding in April 2021 thanks to the vaccine.

“I’m so grateful for the COVID-19 vaccine, my family and friends’ willingness to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated, and the time we were able to spend with loved ones we hadn’t seen in over a year.”

What’s your why?

Across our connected ecosystem, we each have a unique voice and story about why we received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Click here to share your “why.”
I got engaged last fall in the middle of the pandemic, when my fiancé, Matt, was nearing the end of medical school. We knew we would need to hold the wedding before he began his residency this summer, but at the time of our engagement we were afraid we wouldn’t be able to have many of our family and friends join us for the ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions and our concern for everyone’s health and safety.

Thankfully, the vaccine became available in time for us to plan our wedding, although we did reduce our guest list, as many people have had to do during the pandemic. But because we knew that around 70% of our guests were vaccinated, our wedding venue was comfortable hosting an event of that size for the first time since March 2020, and we were able to invite around 100 people thanks to the COVID-19 vaccine.

The high vaccination rate meant that the people who are important to us could share in our celebration, many of whom had to travel from out of state – including Matt’s elderly grandmother and my sister-in-law, who was 8 months pregnant at the time of the wedding. Neither of them would have been able to attend if they and so many of our other guests had not been able to receive the vaccine.

I’m so grateful for the COVID-19 vaccine, my family and friends’ willingness to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated, and the time we were able to spend with loved ones we hadn’t seen in over a year. Together, we can make up for moments missed during the pandemic and move forward stronger than ever!

Safety First, People Always: 2020 Year in Review

One way we gauge our continued efforts in creating a safety culture across our connected ecosystem is through our annual Culture of Safety Survey – open now through July 21!

Leaders and teams use the valuable input from this survey to prioritize our collective work and maintain momentum on our HRO journey. If you have not yet completed this year’s survey, click below to make your voice heard today!
We are committed to achieving zero preventable harm to our caregivers, patients and their families by becoming a High Reliability Organization (HRO).

In 2020, we catalyzed on the momentum begun in 2019 with the launch of our HRO journey, strengthening the foundational work we had implemented while expanding our efforts in critical areas of focus. In a year like no other, we made significant strides toward our shared goals even as we pulled together in unprecedented ways to continue delivering safe, high quality care throughout the pandemic.

To summarize and celebrate our progress and successes, we have created Safety First, People Always: 2020 Year in Review.

Please take a few moments to read through this yearbook and reflect on the work that we have completed together as we continue toward our collective goal of achieving zero preventable harm.

Our success would not have been possible without our 21,000 incredible people who came together to design, implement, pilot, train and sustain our shared work. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for making this journey possible!
