Help provide COVID-19 vaccines to our communities

Our vision is that every community, every neighborhood and every life can be whole and healthy, and we are excited to partner with our communities to offer the COVID-19 vaccine in the coming weeks and months. We need your support with staffing new ambulatory vaccine clinics across our system as we increasingly provide this vaccine to members of our community.

Associates in both clinical and administrative roles may provide help in our vaccine clinics. These roles, qualifications and training requirements include the following:

Clinical roles

Administrative roles Learn more about the roles and required training before signing up for shifts. As always, your safety and well-being are a priority, and we will provide you with the tools and support to assist you in being effective in your role.

How to sign up for an ambulatory vaccine clinic shift
We have many different ambulatory vaccine clinic locations in our communities. To sign up for a shift opening at one of our ambulatory vaccine clinic locations, follow this process.

We anticipate adding more clinics and shifts in the coming weeks so please continue to check back to view openings and sign up for shifts as you are able.

Compensation
This is our current compensation structure. Given that vaccine clinics will be an ongoing and evolving need in our ministry, compensation is being evaluated and is subject to change in the coming weeks.

Associates providing coverage above their normal shift will be paid their hourly rate. Hourly (non-exempt) associates will be eligible for overtime as well as evening, weekend and night differentials per Centura policy. If working on a holiday, associates will receive holiday pay based on policy. Exempt associates will be paid straight time over/above their salary at their equivalent hourly rate for hours worked, but are not eligible for overtime, evening, weekend differentials or other hourly pay practices. Centura leadership (director level and above) are welcome to volunteer but are not eligible for additional compensation.

Allocating hours correctly
All associates will need to transfer their time to the COVID-19 vaccine cost center using transfer instructions for exempt associates or transfer instructions for non-exempt associates, depending on their role. Associates should select the cost center that is affiliated with the hospital for which they are working. A list of cost centers can be found here.

Eligible exempt associates who sign up for vaccine clinic shifts in addition to their normal shifts must have this form completed by their leader in order to receive compensation. Advanced practice providers who work vaccine clinic shifts should contact their clinic leadership to ensure that applicable pay practices are followed.

Thank you for your continuing to care for our communities when they need us most! Your enthusiasm, expertise and commitment to make every neighborhood whole and healthy is sincerely appreciated.

As part of our shared efforts to achieve zero preventable harm, Centura Health’s laboratory team launched a Blood Stewardship Campaign in November 2020. The goal of this campaign is to eliminate harm by educating caregivers on best practices for blood transfusions, including minimizing transfusions and adhering to lower laboratory thresholds in non-actively bleeding patients. These best practices, also known as restrictive transfusion practices, improve patient outcomes, including reduced morbidity and mortality and shorter lengths of stay.

To support this campaign, several changes are going live in Epic on Feb. 2, 2021. The Epic changes include:
