Centura Health hospitals recognized for ‘A’chieving excellence

Safety First, People Always is at the forefront of everything we do as we strive to deliver health care that is compassionate, top-quality and safety-focused. One of the many ways we measure our commitment to safety and high-performing whole person care is through the Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grades.

The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. It is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.

Centura Health is pleased to announce the eight hospitals that received an A rating when Leapfrog updated grades for fall 2020:

Our incredible caregivers continue to focus on delivering excellent clinical outcomes and creating an environment of continuous learning. As our ministry dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, our people remained focused on delivering health care in a different way – compassionate, top-quality and safety focused. Thank you for your continued energy, focus and commitment to living Safety First, People Always!

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

Research Electronic Data Capture now available!

Research Operations and Information Technology (IT) are excited to share that the software platform Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is now available to research clinicians throughout Centura. This includes health professionals within and affiliated with a Centura entity.

REDCap, created by Vanderbilt University and licensed to Centura, is supported by the REDCap Consortium to primarily facilitate Institutional Review Board-approved (IRB) clinical research. However, there may be projects that are not research-related where REDCap is an appropriate platform for data acquisition and management.

REDCap is a secure, HIPAA-compliant web-based solution that allows for a fully customizable, streamlined process to rapidly create and design projects with multiple tools. Highlights of the system include:

The project implementation team has developed the workflow, policies, and controls to request access to REDCap. Melody Rael, Sr. Regulatory Operations Specialist, will be serving as the REDCap database administrator. For more information, review the REDCap Information Sheet or visit the REDCap SharePoint site.

"Operation White Lights" encourages support for your incredible work

In a show of support for all health care workers, including frontline caregivers, support staff and everyone working so hard through the pandemic, Centura Health is encouraging our communities to display white lights, bows and other white symbols in an expression of gratitude.

"Operation White Lights" launched Wednesday at Porter Adventist Hospital as leaders hung white bows on pillars, light poles and trees around campus. More bows and lights will appear on other Centura campuses in the coming days. Multiple media outlets have also covered the campaign.

Many of us have heard from friends, neighbors and others in our communities who have asked what more they can do to show their support. This is a way to remind incredible health care workers across our region we appreciate all they do, while bringing us all a little closer together during this holiday season of social distancing.

“Our caregivers continue to respond to the health and well-being needs with courage and compassion, fulfilling our Mission of providing whole person care,” said Patrick Gaughan, Centura's SVP and Chief Values Integration Officer. “As caregivers come and leave their shifts, seeing a flurry of white will remind them that the community has their back and we are thankful for their dedication to provide hope and healing.”

The color white was chosen because it symbolizes unity and hope. It shows appreciation for not only doctors and nurses, but those crucial in the care of COVID-19 patients including housekeepers, respiratory therapists, paramedics and others.

With the promise of effective vaccines just around the corner, it is also a celebration of hope for brighter tomorrows.

Verify your information now to ensure you receive your tax forms on time

With the end of the year fast approaching, tax season will be upon us before we know it. Please take a moment to review the information below and verify your home address or ADP registration to ensure you receive your W-2 on time.

Paper W-2s mailed to your home
In order to receive a W-2 form through the mail, it is critical that all associates ensure their current address is accurate in Lawson prior to Thursday, Dec. 24. You can view and update your address online through Lawson Employee Self Service.

To verify your address, visit MyVirtualWorkplace and under the "Associates" tab, select "Employee Self Service" then log in as directed. Once in Employee Self Service, click on the "Bookmarks" tab, then "Employee Self-Service," "Personal Information," and "Address."

Please select the "Mailing Address" tab to verify your information is correct and make any necessary updates. This simple step will ensure your W-2 is mailed to the correct address.

Receive your W-2 electronically
If you prefer to access your W-2 electronically, Centura Health also offers W-2s online through ADP. Be sure to register on the ADP website by midnight MT on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 in order to receive your W-2 online

If you registered last year to receive your W-2 online, you do not need to register again. However, please confirm prior to Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 that you are still able to sign in at www.w2.adp.com and that your account is set up for the paperless option. If you are new or have not registered in the past, please click here for instructions on how to create an account. You can also refer to this tip sheet for help accessing the site and resetting your password and user ID. For more details, including what to do if you’ve forgotten your password, go to www.w2.adp.com

Please note that if you elect to register online, you will NOT receive a paper W-2 in the mail (ADP electronic access allows users to print hard copies of their W-2 forms). If you do not register by the deadline, you will receive a paper W-2 in the mail.

No matter which option you choose, W-2s will be available online or mailed no later than Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.

Form 1095-C
The IRS requires all 1095-C (Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage) forms be postmarked by March 2, 2021. This form is mailed to all associates who were eligible to receive health coverage from Centura Health in 2019 and is part of the reporting requirements for employers and health insurance companies under the Affordable Care Act. This form will contain health insurance coverage information you may need to report as part of your income tax submission for the 2020 tax year.

You should receive your form by the required deadline at the address reflected in Lawson Employee Self-Service as of Dec. 24, 2020. Keep in mind, while information on the 1095-C may be helpful in preparing your tax return, it is not required to file your taxes. Like last year, you can prepare your tax return using other information to confirm your coverage. The 1095-C you receive from Centura Health is for your records only.

If you do not want to wait for the mailed copy, you may access this form online at www.w2.adp.com. This is the same site used to retrieve your electronic W-2. For full details on creating an account, including what to do if you have forgotten your password, visit www.w2.adp.com
