Caring for your mental health during COVID-19

If you feel you need support during this difficult time, please know that we have resources to help. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a great resource for counseling services and educational webinars. Click here to learn more.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, our caregivers responded with courage and compassion to meet the needs of our communities. As a connected ecosystem, we were inspired by the collective energy, innovation and expertise displayed as we worked together in the face of unprecedented challenges. Across the country, we are now seeing record numbers of COVID-19 positive patients and hospitalizations and many of us are left feeling overwhelmed, fearful and depleted.

“Pandemic fatigue is real, and it is both emotional and physical fatigue,” explained Di Thompson, MD, Medical Director of Physician Wellness. “We initially thought this pandemic was going to be a marathon. Then it turned into an ultra-marathon. Now, it is so far beyond that and reserves are low. You can’t hold your breath for ten months. Now more than ever, we need to care for our own well-being.”

To face this next wave, we must take care of ourselves first so that we are able to bring our best selves to our work and our homes each day. Dr. Thompson recommends these tips to care for your whole health:

Our 21,000 caregivers are connected through our shared experiences and desire to make a difference. Right now, we can make the biggest difference in prioritizing our own health, well-being and safety so we can continue delivering the high-performing, whole person care our communities urgently need during this pandemic.

Phone call recordings unavailable during planned downtime

Centura Health uses the Verba application to record phone calls. This application is used primarily when calling the Centura Health Service Center or PBX switchboards.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (0900 to 1300 MT), Information Technology (IT) will upgrade these services, resulting in a planned downtime.

During this downtime, no phone calls will be recorded, and the historical recordings will not be available until the upgrade is complete.

SharePoint sites continue

Centura Health will continue to use and support the SharePoint platform.

In a July 2020 announcement, Microsoft noted that it will retire SharePoint 2010 Workflows. Please note this will only affect the legacy workflow product within SharePoint Online sites (those sites starting with www.centurahealth.sharepoint.com). These older workflows will stop functioning on March 1, 2021 but the sites themselves will remain.

Software Development has contacted affected Site Owners. If you have not yet been contacted by Software Development, no action is required.

SharePoint On-Prem sites will not be affected by this change. Only cloud-based SharePoint Online sites will have their 2010 Workflows retired.

The original retirement date issued by Microsoft was Nov. 1, 2020. Centura was able to negotiate with Microsoft to extend the deadline to March 1, 2021.

Spread warmth this season

The corporate offices will again participate in Coats for Colorado as part of our “Season of Thankscaring.” As many of our incredible people are currently working from home, this year associates are asked to deliver their gently-used costs to any local Dependable Cleaners location through Nov. 30.

Donated coats will be distributed to area nonprofit organizations. Dependable Cleaners will clean the coats prior to distribution.

We are proud to continue to support this event that has helped Coloradoans since 1981. Since its start, Coats for Colorado has collected, cleaned, and distributed over two million coats in the Denver metro area.

Your kind donations help to provide warm winter coats at no cost to Coloradoans of all ages.

Making a difference, $1 at a time

It is estimated that one in seven Coloradoans struggle with hunger. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused even more in our community to experience food insecurity and has increased the demand for charitable food assistance.

As part of our “Season of Thankscaring” the corporate offices are asking associates to consider making a donation now through Nov. 30 to the Food Bank of the Rockies.

At this time, Food Bank of the Rockies is encouraging individuals to make cash donations as they do not have the means or manpower to properly sanitize food donations to the standards necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

For every dollar Food Bank of the Rockies receives four meals can be distributed! Think how many people you could feed by forgoing your daily cup of joe and donating the money instead. No donation is too small! Even a quarter can provide a meal to someone in need.

No one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Please join us and give hungry families the opportunity to thrive.
