Visiting Student Policy – effective immediately
Dear Colleagues,

Please see below regarding the current Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences/UCI Health policy regarding visiting students. This policy has been endorsed by the vice chancellor, hospital leadership, and legal counsel, and is effective immediately.

Visiting Student Policy (effective through Jan. 1, 2021)
  1. This policy covers visiting students doing in-person rotations at UCI owned and operated sites.
  2. Visiting students are defined as non-UCI students in a certificate or degree granting program.
  3. Visiting students will only be placed at UCI after UCI students’ training needs are accommodated.
  4. Visiting students from other UC programs may be considered for rotations at UCI.
  5. Employees may be considered for rotations at UCI.
  6. Visiting students from schools within Orange County, and consortium students from within 100 miles of UCI Medical Center, may be considered for rotations at UCI.
  7. No other visiting students will be considered at this time.
  8. Schools sending visiting students to UCI must accept the terms and stipulations set forth in the standard affiliation agreement, especially as it relates to liability insurance. Schools must also have a signed COVID waiver on file. Legal will not accept significant changes to the agreements at this time.
  9. The Affiliated Health Committee will decide which allied health schools that meet the above criteria are appropriate for rotations at UCI, taking into account capacity, local conditions, and institutional priorities.
  10. Visiting students will not see patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
This policy will be in effect until Jan. 1, 2021, though it may be changed or extended at any time due to changes in local conditions. Thank you for your continued flexibility during this time.

Sincerely,
