Epic upgrade and Storyboard go live this weekend

This Sunday, July 12, the Epic upgrade will deliver new features and functionality across most care and business settings. One of the new features is Storyboard, a new visual workspace layout. If you have not reviewed the Learning Home Dashboard (LHD) tip sheets for your area or viewed the LEARN training on Storyboard, please be sure to do so before July 12 so you are fully prepared to begin using the new functionality in Epic.

We are committed to continuing to improve the quality of patient care, leveraging efficiencies and delivering exceptional patient experiences. When the Epic upgrade goes live on July 12, here are some improvements you can expect to see:

Prepare for the upgrade  Downtime procedures First time logging in – Be prepared
The first time you log in after the Upgrade, all users will be prompted with a Welcome Activity screen to select either a simplified activity layout or have the option to keep your current customizations by closing the screen. See the screen shot below on what to expect:

Find the full tip sheet – including if you selected the simplified layout (meaning it moves less-frequently used items to the dropdown button) and want to revert to your previous settings – in the Learning Home Dashboard upgrade materials.

To assist with any issues that occur after the upgrade is finished, a dedicated command center will open immediately following the upgrade, through Tuesday, July 14 at 5 p.m. To reach the Epic Command Center, please call the IT Help Desk and select the correct menu prompt.

New guidelines for advanced imaging orders

Starting July 12, in conjunction with the Epic upgrade, there will be a process change for ordering advanced imaging (CT, MR, NM, PET) to ensure we meet Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) mandate. Modifications have been made when ordering advanced imaging to provide valid exam options for sending an appropriate adherence modifier on the claim. Below are the details for meeting the new guidelines:

cid:image003.jpg@01D64EE3.216F66E0

Why is this important?
CMS is now collecting data on advanced imaging orders. Centura Health wants to ensure successful adherence to the requirements. Every order and adherence modifier will be associated with the ordering provider’s NPI (National Provider Identifier). Not entering a structured reason could cause delays in billing or denials. Over time, CMS will identify those who have low adherence, and implement additional barriers for those providers ordering advanced imaging.  For more information on this legislation, PAMA 2014, please see the CMS website.

Questions?
For support please contact your local Credentialed Trainers (CT) or Clinical Informaticist (CI).

What we do:
Health Images and PENRAD Imaging offer the most advanced diagnostic medical imaging and provide onsite radiologists for timely results. Both offer all imaging modalities (MRI, CT, X-ray, etc.) and focus on providing exceptional patient care.

Locations:
Health Images has 14 locations across the Denver Metro area. The newest location opened in Cherry Creek just last year.
PENRAD Imaging has seven locations across the Colorado Springs market. The newest location opened in the Hybl Center last month.

FY21 initiatives:
Centura Health is working closely with these joint venture partners to coordinate best practice-sharing throughout the companies. One important initiative will be expansion into new markets to capture accretive market share for our organization.

Interesting facts:
Health Images and PENRAD Imaging are both majority-owned by Centura Health. The Ambulatory Services department works closely with the management teams to ensure proper coordination into our system for follow-up care.

Congratulations to the winners of our Get Moving campaign!

Our Get Moving campaign/contest ended Tuesday, June 30. Thank you to those who submitted photos of you and/or your family getting outdoors and getting moving. From these submissions, we’d like to highlight three contestants for their efforts:

Trena Berube, Director of Emergency Services, Cardiac Cath Lab and Cardiopulmonary Rehab, St. Anthony North Health Campus, and ten of her colleagues, friends and family (and a dog) joined her on a walk outside their campus. During these extremely busy and challenging times, we’d like to thank Trena for her leadership and inspiring devotion of time.
Meena Krishnakumar, Patient Account Representative 1, rode her bike around Expo Park. She submitted not only a photo of herself getting moving, but also a PowerPoint of practices she is currently doing to improve her mind, body and spirit. Thank you Meena for sharing so much about why you chose to participate and about your healthy lifestyle in such a creative way!
Jackie Queen, Executive Assistant, went for a 4.27 mile run on Heart Walk day, Friday, June 5. Thank you Jackie for your devotion in getting out and getting moving for such a long distance!

Welcome Administrative Resident Kalli Creitz to Centura

Centura Health is welcoming Kalli Creitz as an Administrative Resident with the AdventHealth Residency Program. She will spend three years working with several of our entities to assist in administrative roles and learn about health care operations.

Though based at Porter, Kalli will also be participating in rotations at the Centura corporate offices, as well as Avista, Castle Rock, Littleton, and Parker. She graduated this year from Walla Walla University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a minor in Spanish.

Her preceptor for the program, Porter Adventist Hospital CEO Todd Folkenberg, said, “Kalli learned a lot last year as a Centura intern, and she realized that the Residency program is a fabulous setting and balance between business and clinical, two areas that interest her.”

Specific areas Kalli would like to emphasize in her residency include marketing, human resources, and business development, as well as learning more about clinical operations.

If there are experiential projects that could both support your department in achieving our 2025 Aspirations as well as provide Kalli great experience and exposure to health care, please pass along your ideas to Kalli or to Todd. He will be working with her to prioritize and sequence these projects.

Kalli can be reached by emailing KallieCreitz@centura.org. You may also email questions to Todd Folkenberg at ToddFolkenberg@centura.org.
