Hello humankindness. It's more than a tagline. Humankindness is one of the many things we all have in common. It's the good within us. The power that connects us. And at CommonSpirit Health, we fuse it into heartfelt healing, inspired innovation, and mindful medicine. It's in how we provide treatment and the way we treat patients. Our communities need caring, and our families need support. CommonSpirit Health is committed to building healthy communities by advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovating how and where healing can happen. Because the way care is provided is often as meaningful as the care itself.

Great care, polite, professional staff, and a great cafeteria to keep you full during times of stress. Buuuuttttt, avoid the sandwiches at the Mug.

If you have anything more serious than a hangnail, you will be flown out. Centura, I mean CommonSpirit, do everything in its power to drive physicians out of Durango. People who relocate to Durango have no idea how bad the quality of health care is here.

Very clean and nice hospital, brought our daughter in for some GI concerns they immediately took her back and ensured she was taken care of properly and in a timely manner. Doctors and nurses were both super kind and acknowledged all of our concerns. Definitely appreciate them for all they did for us.

I am from out of state and was transferred here from an urgent care center. The staff was amazing - they quickly diagnosed how sick I was and started treating me as quick as they could. Upon further diagnosis they determined that I needed more than their facility/hospital could do and arranged for an airflight to Colorado Springs. The attention I got from the nurse assigned to me was amazing - he was kind, gentle and very attentive. Thank you ....

Patient care is generally superb. Customer service is often awful.

My wife has a terminal condition. We went in to see her doctor about three weeks ago, and the doctor ordered blood work. My wife is bed and wheelchair bound and getting her into the hospital is a major operation that typically takes two to three hours to accomplish. As we were already at the hospital, we tried to get into the outpatient lab to get her draw done. They advised us they were not taking walk-ins. I told them of the difficulty in getting her there, but they said it didn't matter... I'd have to leave and call in for an appointment. I did so. They did not answer my call, but rather had a message saying to leave my number, and they would call me back the next business day between 8 and noon to schedule the appointment. I left my info, and waited by the phone the four hours the next day as this was important. They did not return the call. I waited for a week with no response. I called in again, thinking something had just slipped through the cracks. Same message. Same info left. Same no return call. I called a third time after another week. Same result. Then a fourth time.

Only this time when they didn't return my call the next morning, I drove into the lab. When I entered they told me they were not taking walk-ins, and I'd have to leave and call in for an appointment. I told them they had not returned four calls, and I was not going to leave without an appointment. They directed me to an appointment clerk. She asked my my name and date of birth and my wife's info, confirmed in the computer that we had referrals, and then asked what day I wanted to come in. I responded, "At your convenience. Whatever works for you." She looked up at me and asked again, "What day so you want to come in?" Thinking she had not heard me I responded again, "At your convenience. Whatever works for you." This time she appeared irritated, looked me straight in the eye and asked stridently, "What day do you want to come in?" I replied, "Okay, tomorrow."

She then said, "If you're going to take that attitude, you can just leave." I was now getting irritated, and asked her in elevated voice, "What about at your convenience do you not understand?"

She replied that I should leave now or she was calling security. I was now getting furious. I told her to call security, call the hospital administrator, or call the police. I don't care. When they get here, we'll get this settled. I'm not leaving without an appointment.

When four security officers arrived shortly, they told me I'd have to leave. I told them I was getting an appointment for my terminally ill wife. The officer said, "Just because your wife is terminal doesn't give you the right to raise your voice" I replied to him he was probably right, but was thinking if it takes that to get an appointment scheduled, it was going to happen, because my wife's life was more important to me than her feelings, and they had been jerking me around for three weeks. All I wanted was an appointment. I had raised my voice after she told me to leave, but had made no threatening gestures whatsoever. And if I'd left, I would still not have one, and they would still not be returning my calls.

Another clerk stepped over to the window and said she would schedule the appointment and did so in less than a minute. She told me the soonest she could get us in would be June 6th (this was May23rd), and I said that would be fine and thanked her. She then said that I could walk-in and get served any day they were open as long as I came between 7:30 and 8:00. I again thanked her and got up and left, with the security officers following me out.

I am one of the easiest-going people you will ever meet, and they had me angrier than I have been in the last 40 years. All they had to do was return the call anytime in the previous three weeks after four calls-in on my part, or schedule the appointment when I went into the office to get it. That's their job. They don't do anything else but that and check people in. There comes a point where just won't take being jerked around any more. Especially wife my wife's life potentially on the line. The sad thing is that I had to explode to the service I pay-for and should have gotten all along.

On the way home I stopped at a friend's house to relay what had happened and let off some steam. He told me he had had quit going to Mercy Hospital at all for any reason because he had tried multiple times over two months to schedule appointments and had never had a call returned. He also told me that a mutual friend was right now, if fact, trying for the past month to get a lab appointment for his wife and had been unable.

Three years ago, I had what they originally thought was a mild heart attack. I went into emergency, and received absolutely superb care. Try to get a follow-up stress test scheduled?.... I've given up. It's still not been done.

I had such an amazing experience giving birth at Mercy. Amazing doctors, amazing and kind nurses, I'm so thankful to have had such a great experience in labor and giving birth. They even bring by little aromatherapy gifts for you during labor.

I took my husband to the ER yesterday afternoon. He was admitted and awaiting surgery right now. The ER personnel was so nice and compassionate to him. Got him in right away. ER PA and attending nurse was so nice and efficient. Did everything possible to make my husband comfortable and attended to his needs expeditiously. After being sent to his room the nurses were so accommodating to us. Nurse Hannah was so caring and a wonderful personality. She made my husband and I feel confident we were in the right hospital. Today Nurse Deb is taking care of us. She too is wonderful. I hope the rest of our stay is as good as it's been so far!!
