In consultation with pulmonary and critical care services and in accordance with the American Association for Respiratory Care guidelines, the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine will stop performing temperature correction for blood gases. Values measured at 37˚C will be reported for pH, pCO2, and pO2, regardless of patient temperature at the time of collection.

Patient temperature will no longer be required on blood gas orders and will not be recorded or reported by the laboratory. There is no change to any other test requirements or reporting parameters.
