24th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards

On April 5, Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago staff attended LISC Chicago’s 24th annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards. These awards recognize outstanding achievement in neighborhood real estate development and community building in the Chicago metropolitan area. The FHLBank Chicago was a sponsor.

Solutions for Housing Communications 2018 Convening

The National Housing Conference’s Solutions for Housing Communications 2018 Convening was held in Washington, D.C. in April. The FHLBank Chicago’s Community Investment Officer, Suzi Thackston (far left), moderated a panel discussion titled Communicating with Data: The Multiplier Effect, which included Mary Patoka (far right), a member of the Bank’s Community Investment Advisory Council.

Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference

FHLBank Chicago staff attended the Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in May. Hosted by the Center for Community Progress, this conference explored strategies to address vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties. The FHLBank Chicago was a sponsor.

At the conference's Placemaking, Squared: Community-Based Revitalization in Clarke Square and Walker Square mobile workshop, Colleen Sheahan (Vice President and Senior Manager, Community Investment, FHLBank Chicago) and Fernando Campos (Neighborhood Development Coordinator, United Community Center) stand at the entrance of UCC Village, a competitive Affordable Housing Program project in Milwaukee's Walker Square neighborhood.

Bickerdike’s 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration

On May 17, FHLBank Chicago staff attended Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation’s 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration in Chicago, Illinois. This event highlighted Bickerdike’s commitment to community development in Chicagos West Town, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Hermosa, and Avondale neighborhoods. The FHLBank Chicago was a sponsor.

  

New West Englewood Homes Opening

Community Investment staff recently joined Interfaith Housing Development Corporation at its opening of New West Englewood Homes in Chicago, Illinois. The FHLBank Chicago made a $200,000 competitive Affordable Housing Program award to this project through IFF.
