Competitive Affordable Housing Program Opens May 7

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago recently announced a $25.1 million allocation for its 2018 competitive Affordable Housing Program (AHP). Applications for the 2018 competitive round may be initiated in AHP Online beginning Monday, May 7; the application deadline is 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, June 15.

Join Community Investment staff at a complimentary workshop to learn more about applying to the competitive AHP. Topics covered will include eligibility, project feasibility, and the 2018 scoring guidelines. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Potential AHP project sponsors, FHLBank Chicago member institutions, and development consultants are encouraged to attend. Register for a workshop here.

Alternatively, those experienced with the FHLBank Chicago’s competitive AHP are encouraged to participate in a webinar that will summarize changes for 2018. Register for a webinar here.

Last year there was a strong correlation between these learning opportunities and award success: In the 2017 competitive round, 100% of awarded projects had a member of the development team (i.e., member, sponsor, or consultant) register for a webinar or land-based workshop.

In addition to these learning opportunities, the Guide for Sponsor Applicants, the Guide for Member Applicants, and most of the application exhibits have been updated for 2018 and are posted to the FHLBank Chicago’s website. Potential applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these resources.
