Document Sorting Update to Policy Center

With Policy Center updates implemented yesterday, we wanted to let you know about changes to the default sorting of documents. Starting today, policy documents will be sorted from newest to oldest on the Documents screen in Policy Center. This change will make the most recent and relevant documents more easily accessible to agents.

Hurricane Season and a Reminder on Binding Exception Rules

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, we have entered the “season within a season” in regards to the most active and dangerous time for tropical cyclone activity. With the recent news of Hurricane Hermine and its damage to Florida and other areas, our hearts go out those affected. If the storm had indeed headed for the Texas coast as some experts originally predicted, the Association was prepared to respond.

As a reminder for your policyholders, no new or increased coverage applications will be accepted on the day (beginning at 12:01 A.M.) or after a windstorm designated as a hurricane by the United States Weather Bureau is in the Gulf of Mexico or within the boundaries of 80 degrees west longitude and 20 degrees north latitude. This rule is in effect until the General Manager determines that the storm no longer threatens property within the designated catastrophe area of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. For more information on this Hurricane Binding Exception, please visit our page on TWIA.org

A Reminder on Flood Insurance

In order to be eligible for windstorm coverage with TWIA, certain properties must also be covered by flood insurance. It’s important to remember that flood insurance is obtained through the National Flood Insurance Program as windstorm insurance does not cover flood and storm surge damage, and flood insurance does not cover wind damage. For additional information on flood insurance requirements, please visit our flood page on TWIA.org

We are always monitoring our systems and the Association is prepared to respond to any issues. We understand TWIA’s technology is a key to serving your clients well and any questions or concerns can be directed at AgentServices@TWIA.org or by calling us at 1-800-788-8247.

We hope this information is helpful.

Thank you,

TWIA
