No Rate Change in 2017

The TWIA Board of Directors voted at its August 2 meeting to file a zero percent rate change with the Texas Department of Insurance in its mandatory August 15 rate filing. Rates will remain unchanged for all TWIA residential and commercial policies issued or renewed in 2017.

The Texas Insurance Code requires TWIA rates to be reasonable, adequate, and not unfairly discriminatory. Rates are set by the TWIA Board of Directors and subject to review by the Texas Department of Insurance. The Board has stated that they will review rates outside the annual rate filing if necessary due to a change in the Association’s financial condition.
