The TWIA Board of Directors recently voted to increase rates by up to 5%. As a result, TWIA will implement a 5% rate increase for all residential and commercial coverage forms effective January 1, 2018.

The Board's decision took into account the unanimous recommendation of the Actuarial and Underwriting Committee, input from a wide variety of stakeholders, and actuarial indications that rates are currently 30% inadequate. TWIA filed the rate increase with TDI, as required by statute.

The average premium on a TWIA residential policy is approximately $1,587. For this policy, a 5% increase represents around $79 more per year.

In the coming months, we will begin processing new and renewal business with January effective dates.
