Agents,

The Texas Administrative Code outlines the procedure that TWIA must follow during a hurricane.  Subsection (d)(2)(E)(ii) of §5.4001 states that when a hurricane enters the Gulf of Mexico within the boundaries of 80 degrees West Longitude and 20 Degrees North Latitude, TWIA will no longer accept new applications or increases in coverage.

Tropical Storm Cindy has not been classified as a hurricane by the United States Weather Bureau; therefore, we are still accepting applications. Reminder, TWIA does not cover flood.

If you have any questions, please contact Agent Services at agentservices@twia.org or 1-800-788-8247.

Thank you,

TWIA
