Greetings:

Last week, we informed you Weston Property & Casualty Insurance Company had been put into receivership for liquidation. Policies currently insured by Weston, including those in Texas, will be canceled effective September 7.

While Weston provided windstorm insurance for a number of property owners in Texas coastal counties, TWIA does not currently have any data on Weston policies located in TWIA's coverage area. We are working with the Texas Department of Insurance and other entities to try to obtain this information and reviewing the policy information we have from Weston’s past participation in TWIA’s depopulation programs.

We understand this development is concerning for insurance agents and Weston policyholders who are urgently seeking replacement coverage in the middle of hurricane season. We want to assure you that TWIA is prepared to assist insurance agents and Weston policyholders who are seeking windstorm coverage through the Association.

We are continuing to evaluate our options to further support insurance agents and impacted Weston policyholders as they seek replacement windstorm coverage. We have provided insurance agents with a comprehensive FAQ related to Weston’s insolvency and how to secure windstorm coverage through TWIA. This information is also available on TWIA’s website.

Should you have any questions, please contact me at DDurden@twia.org or (512) 505-2255.

Sincerely,

David Durden
