Epic workstation timeouts
Beginning this week, Data Security will implement settings in Epic that cause workstations to automatically log out when caregivers are not actively using the system. Centura Health is working to align existing Epic timeouts with those documented in the Computer Access Timeout Policy. This alignment will ensure compliance with this policy, helping to ensure security as well as reducing licensing costs.  

Epic timeouts are as follows:
 
Workstation location Timeout
Clinical Workstation Default 15 minutes
EMR and other systems 15 minutes
ER and PACS 4 hours
VDI 2 hours
OR 1 hour

Workstations that are out of scope with the policy will have their timeouts set to the nearest value.

If you believe you need an exception to these timeouts, please submit an Epic Timeout Exception Request through the Self-Service Hub.
  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Work Tools tab.
  3. Select Non-Clinical Tools.
  4. Select Self Service Hub.
  5. Enter Timeout in the Search field and press Enter on the keyboard.
  6. Select the Epic Timeout Exception Request.
  7. Complete the required fields.
  8. Submit the request.
