Protect your hearing at home and on the job

The National Safety Council and the American Academy of Audiology recognize May as Better Hearing Month. From airports to road crews, water treatment plants to solid waste collection, there are dozens of city jobs where employees are exposed to prolonged noise at work. Employees who work in office settings may damage their ears just by listening to music while they work. Noise may be part of the job, but with careful use of protective equipment, hearing loss doesn't have to be part of your life.

Nationwide, hearing loss in workers' compensation claims total almost $250 million a year. Read more to learn about causes and symptoms of hearing loss and how to better protect your hearing.
