The monthly Safety Bulletin has a new look and a new mission. In the coming months, the Human Resources Risk Management division will launch Zero Is Possible, a comprehensive approach to reducing work-related injuries and losses. This standardized citywide safety program will be gradually implemented across all city departments in three phases, the first phase beginning in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2019.
You will start seeing more about the ZIP program in this newsletter, at tailgate safety meetings, department and citywide safety committee meetings, from posters, videos, online TMS training and more. As its title implies, it IS possible to have zero work-related injuries, and the program aims to:
- Improve safety culture
- Reduce workplace injuries
- Develop pertinent training plans
- Assess safety competency requirements using TMS
- Implement strategic plans for citywide and departmental safety committees
- Amplify the voice of employees and remove barriers to openly discuss safety concerns
- Encourage meaningful and strategic dialogue between HR Safety and partnering departments
