TWIA Legislative Update
Greetings:

Tropical Storm Harold made landfall Tuesday on Padre Island between Port Mansfield and Corpus Christi at approximately 9:50 a.m. As of this afternoon, the Association estimates we will receive up to 800 claims from TWIA policyholders. We also expect to receive approximately 300 Texas FAIR Plan Association claims. The total area impacted by the storm includes more than 55,000 properties insured by TWIA.

No Policy Moratorium
As we shared with you on Monday, a policy moratorium was possible; however, as expected, TWIA did not issue a moratorium as Harold did not strengthen into a hurricane.

Reporting a Claim to TWIA
We encourage you to share the following information with any of your constituents who need to report a claim.

Policyholders can report claims directly to TWIA 24 hours a day by:

  • Calling (800) 788-8247, option 1
    • Have the TWIA policy number, best contact information, and any property damage details ready.
  • Using the Policyholder Portal
Helpful Reminders:
  • TWIA policies do not cover damage caused by flood.
  • Do not attempt to report claims by fax, email, or US mail as this will cause unnecessary delays.
  • Agents can report a claim through the TWIA Agent Portal.

If your constituents have any questions or concerns, they can contact Policy Services at agentservices@twia.org or (800) 788-8247. Our normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

As a reminder, this message and all TWIA Legislative Updates will be archived at www.TWIA.org/legislative.

Should you have any questions, please contact me at DDurden@twia.org or (512) 505-2255.

Sincerely,

David Durden
