International Women's Day
Dear colleagues,

Today marks International Women's Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world.

At UCI Health, we recognize the invaluable contributions of women to our organization – and our society as a whole – and are dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women in all aspects of healthcare.

UCI Health is proud to have a workforce that is predominantly made up of women. Women account for 68 percent of our co-workers and 61 percent of our leadership positions are held by women – compared to 42 percent in the healthcare industry. We remain committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and understand the importance of creating an environment where all individuals feel valued, respected and supported.

In addition, the university has been recognized among the top institutions for the following:
We also recognize the important role women play in their families – often serving as primary caregivers of their household – and offer a wide range of programs and resources to support our colleagues, including flexible work arrangements, dependent care assistance, lactation support and financial assistance programs.

Our commitment to supporting the health of our community extends beyond our organization. We know that women often face unique health challenges, from maternal health to breast cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. That's why UCI Health continues to invest in research and clinical care that addresses these issues and support women at every stage of life.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive world for women everywhere. We must continue to challenge gender bias and inequality and promote opportunities for women to thrive and achieve their full potential.

To all the women at UCI Health, I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering dedication, hard work and leadership. Your contributions make our organization stronger and our community better.

Sincerely,

Chad T. Lefteris
