Greetings:
Below is important information for your constituents impacted by the closures of Weston Property & Casualty Insurance Company and FedNat (Maison) Insurance Company. We also have an update on Weston policy applications.
November 6 is the last day for former Weston policyholders to apply for TWIA coverage using the exceptions available through TDI’s emergency rule. As of October 20, we have issued 11,575 residential and 242 commercial policies to property owners who lost their Weston policies - a total of 11,817 applications from August 1 through October 20. This continues to be an undercount of the true number of applications received from former Weston policyholders due to some irreconcilable variations in data formatting between Weston’s policy list and TWIA’s system.
Today, October 27 is the effective date of cancellation of FedNat (Maison) policies. We will include data regarding policy applications received from former FedNat (Maison) policyholders in our next legislative update.
Please share the following reminders with your constituents who have FedNat Insurance Company (Maison) policies or were cancelled by Weston Property & Casualty Insurance Company.
