TWIA continues to monitor the number of policies issued for Weston policyholders. As of September 20, we have issued 10,934 residential and 231 commercial policies to property owners who lost their Weston policies. You can review more detailed Weston policy data here.
These numbers are based on policies issued for properties with addresses matched to Weston’s policy data. We previously reported data based on policies issued with Weston as the declining carrier in TWIA’s policy application. This method likely underrepresented the actual number of Weston policies submitted to TWIA.
While the address matching approach provides more accurate data, we believe it still underrepresents the true number of Weston policies submitted to TWIA. This is due to the difficulty in identifying all variations between data formatting across Weston’s policy list and TWIA’s system.
We will let you know if there are any important updates related to processing applications for coastal properties previously insured by Weston. As a reminder, Weston applicants have until November 6 to benefit from the TWIA policy application and payment changes authorized by TDI’s emergency rule.
