Greetings:
Hurricane Ian entered the Gulf of Mexico late this afternoon. As required, TWIA issued a brief policy moratorium at 4:00 p.m. today and subsequently lifted it.
Forecasts and modeling continue to predict the storm will make landfall in Florida later this week. Currently, the storm does not pose a threat to the TWIA coverage area.
At 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, September 27, 2022, TWIA will resume accepting applications and issuing policies according to underwriting guidelines. Please visit our website to learn more about TWIA policy moratoriums.
Your constituents or their insurance agents with questions or concerns may contact Policy Services at agentservices@twia.org or (800) 788-8247. Our normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Should you have any questions, please contact me at DDurden@twia.org or (512) 505-2255.
Sincerely,
David Durden
