Dear Agent,

You may have received an email claiming to be from TWIA soliciting donations to support a sick child.

TWIA did NOT send this email. It appears to be a “phishing” attempt, which is an effort to acquire sensitive data, such as bank account numbers, through a fraudulent solicitation in email or on a website, in which the perpetrator masquerades as a legitimate business or reputable person.

If you have received such an email, do not click on any links in the message or enter any credit card, bank, or other financial information in any website linked from the email.

TWIA will never ask you for money except through established TWIA channels as related to premium payment for a client’s TWIA policy. As a state-established organization, it is inappropriate for TWIA to solicit donations for charitable causes.

No TWIA systems were compromised in relation to this phishing attempt. We appreciate the diligence of the agents who reached out to us to verify the legitimacy of this email. More information on how to spot and report internet and email scams is available on the Texas Attorney General’s website.

If you have any questions, please contact Policy Services by emailing agentservices@twia.org or calling (800) 788-8247.

Sincerely,
Texas Windstorm Insurance Association
