Background:
The UCI Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Microbiology Division will no longer offer the Anti-streptolysin O Titer by latex agglutination. The company, Fisher Scientific, is no longer manufacturing the SURE-VUE ASO test kit. The test can still be ordered and samples will be forwarded to our reference laboratory, ARUP. The test result should be available in two to three days. The test is used to confirm a prior infection with group A Streptococcus in patients suspected of having a nonsuppurative complication such as acute glomerulonephritis or acute rheumatic fever. Streptolysin O Antibody (ASO) and DNase-B Antibody (test code: XADB) antibody tests are generally ordered concurrently.
