New Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics Laboratory
The newly established UCI Health Cytogenetics and Genomics Laboratory started performing clinical testing on April 8, 2021. The laboratory is expected to perform more than 2,000 cytogenetic assays annually for the UCI patient population. The latest technology and methods for preparation, analysis and reporting are being used for the processing of bone marrows and leukemic bloods. Currently, G- banded Chromosome Analysis is being offered for a wide range of clinical hematological cancers for diagnosis and management.

In addition to offering clinical testing, the laboratory will provide educational opportunities for Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) students, medical students, Pathology residents and fellows, Hematology/ Oncology fellows, Clinical Genetics fellows and Genetic Counseling students.

The laboratory is directed by Dr. Fabiola Quintero-Rivera, Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and an American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG)-certified Cytogeneticist. It is staffed by three California-licensed Clinical Cytogenetics Scientists with over 15 years of experience.

For any questions, please contact by email at CytogeneticsUCI@hs.uci.edu or by phone at 714-456-2997.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Fabiola Quintero-Rivera, MD, FACMG
