| Healthy Awards is a program that provides a reward amount for completing Wellness Program goals. Funds in this account are tied to your City of Houston Cigna medical plan and may be used for eligible health care expenses, such as physician copays, pharmacy claims, and inpatient/outpatient facilities.
Earning Healthy Awards is a two-step process, complete your Annual Physical and Health Assessment by the deadlines noted below to earn Healthy Awards Account dollars.
For example: Earn $130 in your Healthy Awards account by completing an annual exam by Jan. 31, 2021 and your health assessment by March 12, 2021.

| Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the requirements for completing the 2020 – 2021 Wellness Program have changed. For Active Employees, Covered Spouses of Active Employees, and Retirees Under 65 (only), complete the following steps to earn your medical rate discount: 1. | Annual Physical – Extended Deadline to March 5, 2021 | | Or New: Annual Physical Awareness Seminar by March 12, 2021 | 2. | Health Assessment on MyCigna.com – March 12, 2021 | Discount will be applied July 1, 2021 – April 30, 2022 ($600 for Active Employees and Retirees Under 65; $300 for Covered Spouses of Active Employees) |
Annual Physical Awareness Seminar |
| The Annual Physical Awareness Seminar will educate attendees on the importance of knowing health/biometric numbers, age-appropriate screenings, adult immunizations, how to access resources, and how to schedule an annual physical. Seminars will be conducted via Zoom on the following dates and times between February 1 – March 12: - Monday – Friday: 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
- Tuesday/Thursday: 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

| Notes: - This broadcast message replaces previously advertised requirements and incentives of the Wellness Program.
- Spouses of under 65 Retirees are not eligible to participate in wellness programs to earn a discount or healthy awards accounts.
- Members electing an Employee Only – Limited Plan are ineligible to earn a Medical Rate Discount since their Medical Rate is already $0 per paycheck; members on the Employee Only – Limited Plan may earn Healthy Awards Account Dollars.
- Members in the following exempt categories will automatically earn the medical rate discount: Members who are pregnant between May 1, 2020 – March 12, 2021; Members who are on FMLA, Workers Comp Leave or Military Leave for 2 or more months between February 1, 2020 – March 12, 2021; New Hires who have medical benefits effective September 1, 2020 or later.
- We encourage all members to update their biometric numbers (height, weight, blood pressure, waist circumference, and total cholesterol) if they have them available when completing their Health Assessment. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends completing a cholesterol screening test once every four to six years, thus utilizing a cholesterol value obtained within the last four to six years is appropriate for completing the health assessment.
