Dear colleagues,

On behalf of UCI Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, it is my great pleasure to share the college's inaugural annual report. While this is only a glimpse of the myriad accomplishments of our pioneering investigators, inspiring students, dedicated mentors, and top-tier healthcare providers, it is more than enough to elicit exhilaration, fascination, and pride.

DISCOVER, TEACH, HEAL. Three words that are our mission and the embodiment of extraordinary opportunities. Pursuing this mission has established UCI among the most outstanding healthcare institutions. And yet, we are distinct in how we infuse the mission with innovation and entrepreneurship. At UCI, this tripartite mission is accelerating the frontiers of knowledge, transforming the education of the diverse healthcare workforce of the future, and driving a change in healthcare delivery from treatment only during episodes of illness to support of wellness through life.

Innovation is fundamental to the college, a first-of-its-kind alliance designed to harvest synergies across health disciplines that, historically, have been in silos. Together, the School of Medicine, the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the future School of Population & Public Health, the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, the UCI centers and institutes of health, and our healthcare system (UCI Health) are fashioning healthcare that is patient-centered, prevention-focused, community-informed, and equitable.

I am proud to present the accomplishments highlighted in this report and to recognize all the other teams who also dedicate their lives and creativity so effectively to the service of others. The college is delivering on its promise to advance the wellbeing of all Californians - and to reflect their rich diversity - while serving as a model for others around the globe. This is success made possible by the collegiality and excellence of the entire university and our many champions throughout Orange County.
