Dear Agent,

The United States Weather Bureau has upgraded Tropical Storm Marco into Hurricane Marco, and it is already within the boundaries of 80 degrees west longitude and 20 degrees north latitude.

Effective 11:30 a.m. on August 23, 2020, TWIA can no longer accept new or increased coverage applications. This moratorium will remain in effect until the TWIA General Manager determines that the storm no longer threatens property within the designated catastrophe area of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.

We will continue to keep you updated about Hurricane Marco and notify you when the moratorium on accepting new and increased coverage applications has ended. You may also visit our website or follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on this storm and TWIA’s response to it.

We are also actively monitoring Tropical Storm Laura, currently in the Caribbean.

TWIA policyholders or their agents whose insured properties sustain damage can file claims online at www.twia.org/claimscenter. Claims can also be filed by calling TWIA's 24-hour Claims Center at (800) 788-8247.

Sincerely,
Texas Windstorm Insurance Association
