Updates to Academic Personnel Procedures (APP)
The Office of Academic Personnel has made updates to its Academic Personnel Procedures (APP), specifically, sections 1-14 (Departmental Voting Procedures) and 3-40-C-3-b and 3-40-C-4 (Consecutive No Change and Five-Year Review). The APP are campus procedures for implementing academic personnel policies and are intended to supplement the policies set forth in the University of California Academic Personnel Manual (APM). The APP must always be used in conjunction with the APM.

Non-ACGME Fellows:  Updated Recruiting Procedures
For HS clinical instructors hired into a non-ACGME Fellowship, a 30-day recruitment is not required if all candidates are sourced using an online ‘match’ system. Instead, the hiring department may request an exemption through the Recruit System.

Using an exemption will require the department to provide sufficient justification, including information from the match system that was used to source the final candidate. Please consult with your dean’s analyst for information on the justification required.

A JPF Recruitment is still required in the following situations:
  1. For any paid instructor/fellow that is recruited outside of a match system, including mid-year recruitments (e.g. one of your fellows discontinues their fellowship, and there is now a vacancy in the program)
  2. For any paid instructor/fellow that is recruited for using both a match system and advertised to the general public via other outlets
