Safety Bulletin - May 2019
Are you prepared for the next weather emergency?

June brings the official start to hurricane season. City of Houston departments have been busy training and preparing residents for weather emergencies. From the Extreme Weather Expo to the multi-agency Evacuation Hub Exercise, to first responder high water rescue swim classes, city preparedness activities require collaboration across city departments including the Office of Emergency Management, Houston Fire Department, Houston Police Department, Houston Public Works, Houston Health Department, Houston Parks and Recreation Department and Human Resources.

While city first responders are expected to stand at the ready in the event of any emergency, every Houstonian needs to be prepared for extreme weather. Prepare you and your family today by following a four-step preparedness process: make an emergency plan, have an emergency kit, be informed about disasters, and help members of your community prepare themselves.
