Taking safety to heart

The Occupational Safety Health Administration estimates that cardiac arrest causes approximately 400 workplace deaths each year. The National Safety Council recommends that all adults should learn hands-only CPR, but a recent American Heart Association study revealed that the majority of American workers are unprepared or say they feel helpless in a cardiac emergency because they don’t know CPR and they are afraid they my hurt the victim.

Do you know where the AEDs and First Aid kits are located at your worksite? Please take a moment to find an familiarize yourself with these life-saving devices.

It’s better to know First Aid and not need it, than to need it and not know it.
Did you know that the City of Houston offers safety courses on CPR, First Aid and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED). Visit the city’s online Talent Management System and search for CPR/AED/First Aid.
