October is Fire Prevention Month

A fire could ignite anywhere – at work, at home, on the road and in public. Do you know what to do? October is Fire Prevention Month, and we’ve compiled several resources to help you be better prepared to prevent fires and what to do in the event of a fire.

According to the United States Fire Administration: 

  • California, Texas and Georgia led the nation in the number of fire deaths in 2016, the most recent year data is available;
  • People ages 85 or older have the highest fire death rate;
  • People ages 30-34 have the highest fire injury rate;
  • More men die and are injured in fires than women;
  • African American males have the highest fire death rates (19.7) per million.
