Flu Season is just around the corner! Make sure you are prepared.
What is Influenza (also called Flu)?
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness and at times lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year.
Signs and Symptoms of Flu:
People who have the flu often feel some or all of these signs/symptoms:
- Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Muscle or body aches
- Headaches
- Fatigue (very tired)
- Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults
* It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.
City of Houston Onsite Flu Shot Clinics:
- The City offers flu vaccinations onsite at no cost. Our first flu shot clinics will start in October! Stay tuned for more details about upcoming onsite flu clinics!
- If you can’t join us onsite, schedule a nurse-only appointment with your doctor to get a flu shot
- Those who receive a flu vaccination earn 45% wellness credit under Option A

How do I know when I have completed the requirements to earn a discount?
When you log in to MyCigna.com, you and your covered spouse will see a percentage completed toward your goal. Earn 100 percent by completing the health assessment (10 percent) and wellness engagement options (90 percent) by the deadlines to earn up to $900 discount on your 2019 medical plan rate.
Employees with a covered spouse on their plan will need to earn 200 percent (100 percent for you, the active employee, and 100 percent for your spouse). Allow at least 60-90 days for preventive care activities to be auto-reported. You must self-report dental or vision exams, Introductory Onsite Nutrition Coaching visit and EAP Coaching visit.

GRILLED CHICKEN WRAPS
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 1/4-inch onion slices (about ½ cup)
- 1/4 cup low-sugar, low-sodium barbecue sauce
- 2 8-inch whole wheat flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup fresh diced tomatoes
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat a stove-top grill
- Remove visible fat from chicken, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place chicken and onion slices on the grill. Cook 5 minutes. Turn chicken and onions over and grill 3 minutes. Spoon barbecue sauce over chicken and onion, and grill 2 minutes. A meat thermometer should reach 165 degrees F. Transfer to a plate. Using two forks, shred the chicken. Separate the onions into rings.
- Meanwhile, wrap the tortillas in foil and add to the grill for 3 minutes to warm through. Fill each tortilla with some of the chicken and onions, and roll into a wrap.
- Divide lettuce between two plates, and top with diced tomatoes. Serve.
