School of Medicine Leadership Update

Dear colleagues,

I am excited to share this UCI School of Medicine leadership update. As the school grows and increases activities in several initiatives, we have realigned roles in administration and finance in the dean’s office.  In this realignment, Francine Jeffrey will serve as associate dean of administration and Rebecca Brusuelas-James will serve as associate dean for finance and clinical operations. This partnership between these two outstanding and trusted leaders will create a beneficial and cohesive relationship to ensure administrative and financial consistency throughout the school.

In her role, Brusuelas-James will report to me and oversee all financial operations for the school. She will also work closely with John E. Gross, MD, FACS, vice dean for clinical affairs,
on clinical integration and clinical operations for the faculty practice plan. Jeffrey's expanded role ensures the administrative partnership with clinical integration, faculty compensation plan redesign and clinical trials transformation.

Brusuelas-James will continue to serve in her role as chief of staff for Alan L. Goldin, MD, PhD, interim vice chancellor for health affairs, during and throughout the recruitment of a new vice chancellor.

Both Jeffrey and Brusuelas-James assumed their respective associate dean roles effective June 1. Please join me in welcoming them in these new roles.
Michael J. Stamos, MD
